Located between the Andes mountain range in the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Argentina is the second largest country in South America. The Argentine Republic is composed of 23 provinces and an autonomous city, Buenos Aires. Argentina has four distinct regions: the Andes, the North, the Pampas and Patagonia.
Because of its large size, Argentina has diverse climates and terrain. The landscapes range from tropical climates to the north to tundra climate to the far south. Mid-Argentina experiences a temperate climate.
