Nicholson School of Communication students have the opportunity to participate in an exchange program with the University of Canberra in Australia. The exchange program allows students to receive credit for UCF Communication, Interpersonal-Organizational Communication, Advertising, Public Relations, Journalism, and Radio- Television courses and/or electives in a non-USA setting, at a University where academic standards are high and courses are designed to achieve career results. The University of Canberra has approximately 12,000 students from throughout Australia and from 90 other countries around the world. 1600 students live on the University’s 296-acre campus. The area has mild winters and warm summers, with average temperatures of 27°C (81°F) in summer and 12.1°C (54°F) in winter. The University of Canberra is situated in Australia’s capital city, home of its Commonwealth Government, situated between the country’s two largest cities, Sydney and Melbourne. Canberra, known to locals as ‘the 20 minute city’ because nothing is very far away, is home to a population approaching 350,000.
Minimum Requirements:
Application Process:
You can apply online for this program. The application includes the submittal of a brief essay (500 words) that clearly describes your academic and personal goals, as well as how this program would further them. We recommend you work on your essay outside the application environment and then paste it on the appropriate field.
In addition, the application process requires that you select one instructor familiar with you who is willing to provide an Academic Reference. The instructor must be able to explain why you are a good candidate for this program.
Selected participants must meet with their Academic Advisor to discuss and register for the appropriate coursework. Coursework completed through the program may count as equivalent UCF course credit and/or as restricted or general elective credit.
All applications will be reviewed by the Nicholson School of Communication and selected applicants will be notified of how to follow up. Assessment of the applications will be based on the academic qualifications of the applicant, as well as fit with the courses that the applicant has taken. UCF does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation and/or veteran status.
