The Department of English students have the opportunity to participate in an exchange program with the University of Canberra in Australia. This program is over to both English majors and minors. The exchange program allows students to receive credit for English courses at a university where academic standards are high and courses are designed to achieve career results. The University of Canberra has approximately 12,000 students from throughout Australia and from 90 other countries around the world. 1600 students live on the University’s 296-acre campus.
The area has mild winters and warm summers, with average temperatures of 27°C (81°F) in summer and 12.1°C (54°F) in winter. The University of Canberra is situated in Australia’s capital city, home of its Commonwealth Government, situated between the country’s two largest cities, Sydney and Melbourne. Canberra, known to locals as ‘the 20 minute city’ because nothing is very far away, is home to a population approaching 350,000.

- English major or minor
- Must be in good standing (academic, conduct and financial) with UCF
- Must be registered full time while participating in the exchange
- Must have at least one semester left to graduate, upon returning from your semester abroad
- Must be a junior or senior at the time of exchange
