UCF engineering students have the opportunity to participate in an exchange program with the Universidad de Jaén in Spain. The Universidad de Jaén traces its origins to the Modern Age, with the Universidad de Baeza, and to the 17th century, in which the Estudio General de Santa Catalina became a pontifical, or official Catholic, university. The University College of Jaén did not become an independent University until July 1993. The UJA has more than 16,000 students and 800 faculty.
The university is located in the capital city of the province of Jaén, which is also called Jaén. Relative isolation has kept the province of Jaén far from the main tourist flows and has preserved the natural landscapes of the region. In fact, the province contains more area devoted to national parks than any other province in Spain.
- UCF GPA: 2.75 cumulative
- Must be in good standing (academic, conduct and financial) with UCF
- Must be registered full time while participating in the exchange
- Must be a junior or senior at the time of exchange
- Must have at least one semester left to graduate, upon returning from your semester abroad
The University of Jaen offers 3 sports scholarships to UCF students attending in spring 2018 for approximately US$2,000 for skilled sportsmen and women in volleyball, basketball, soccer, track and field, rugby and karate. Sports profile and participation in sporting activities is required.
Kim Small, College of Engineering and Computer Science
You can apply online for this program. The application includes the submittal of a brief essay (500 words) that clearly describes your academic and personal goals, as well as how this program would further them. We recommend you work on your essay outside the application environment and then paste it on the appropriate field.
Selected participants must meet with the Program Coordinator to discuss and register for the appropriate coursework. Coursework completed through the program may count as equivalent UCF course credit and/or as restricted or general elective credit.
All applications will be reviewed by the College of Engineering and Computer Science and selected applicants will be notified of how to follow up. Assessment of the applications will be based on the academic qualifications of the applicant, as well as fit with the courses that the applicant has taken. UCF does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation or and veteran status.
