Rome stock

Program Description:

The UCF College of Engineering and Computer Science, partnering with API (Academic Programs Abroad) offers engineering majors a summer study abroad opportunity at John Cabot University (JCU) in Rome, Italy.

John Cabot University will be offering Engineering and Mathematics courses for STEM majors during our Summer I and II five-week sessions. This allows students to take the pressure off their semester coursework, transfer the credits back to their home university, and stay on track for graduation – while spending the summer in Rome, Italy, a city renowned for its remarkable feats of engineering such as the Pantheon, the Colosseum and the aqueducts.

Students can select one of the following;
  • Summer Session 1: May 14- June 23
  • Summer Session 2: June 26-August 4

Program Structure and Assessment:

Students will enroll in one or two courses related to their major and all courses are taught in English. Please see below for a list of available courses and their UCF-approved equivalent.

Engineering Courses at JCU

Summer schedules and course syllabi may be found here.

JCU uses the grading system used by most schools in the United States where professors ascribe letter grades (A,B,C,D, or F, sometimes followed by a + or -) based on a 100 percent scale assessing students' work.

Students will receive a transcript from John Cabot University upon completion of the program. John Cabot University is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

For more information on this program, please visit the API website here

Accommodation:

Students live in apartments that are typically a 25-45 minute commute from JCU. Some apartments can house as many as 10 students, although students typically share a room with only one or two other students. All apartments come equipped with a kitchen, 1-2 bathrooms, and common areas. Washing machines are available, and students are responsible for their own meals. Students can opt for a single room for an additional fee.
