"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness..." For 2010, there are additional program opportunities as well as activities and resources intended to help you make program decisions that will best further your academic and personal goals. We recommend that your decision-making process include the following path (click here for the Student Handbook): FIRST - Assess why you want to STUDY abroad. How will the experience further your academic, career or personal goals? Traveling outside of the US can always be a rewarding and educational experience, but if you expect to get credit, your educational gains must be documented. Chat with your academic advisor about your interest in studying abroad and how it fits with your academic program. SECOND - Self-assessment Taking time to understand how YOUR culture and values will interface with the culture and values that you will experience in your program will pay-off in terms of the quality of experience you will have. To help with this, we have developed a series of Cultural Orientations throughout the year (click here for a Cultural Orientation Calendar.) THIRD - Study your program options. You are in the right web-place. Scroll through the menu. Read carefully the UCF and non-UCF options and then schedule a time to speak with a study abroad program advisor, a program director or exchange coordinator - as appropriate. Visit our regular office at Research Pavilion, 12424 Research Parkway, Room 395, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm or our new office at Health and Public Affairs Building, HPA1, Room 347, Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 am to 5 pm and Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm. As always, you can contact us at studyabroad@mail.ucf.edu. FOURTH - Apply, get ready and GO! |
