The Republic of Botswana, or more commonly known as Botswana, is a flat landlocked country located in Southern Africa. Botswana is bordered by South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe, and more than half of the land is covered by the Kalahari Desert. Formerly one of the poorest countries in Africa, Botswana has now transformed itself into one of the fastest-growing economies in the world since gaining independence from Britain. Botswana has diverse areas of wildlife habitat, including the Blue Wildebeest, antelopes, the endangered African Wild Dog, and the world's largest concentration of African elephants, as well as many other animals.
