Program Description:

The Rosen College of Hospitality Management (RCHM) exchange program with Griffith University offers an option for UCF hospitality students to study their discipline in a non-USA setting. Griffith structure encompasses a group of multi-disciplinary, theme-oriented schools that involve groups of disparate scholars who integrate their research and teaching in problem-solving units. The Griffith Business School is one of those schools. The Department of Tourism, Leisure, Hotel and Sport Management, located within the Business School, offers a series of programs associated with Hospitality Management. Griffith University has five campuses in three cities across the Brisbane-Gold Coast corridor. The campuses house 46 schools and faculties, as well as several independent academic centers, colleges and institutes not aligned directly to the study areas. It has over 37,000 students.

Queensland is the northernmost state of Australia's east coast. Its landscape and vegetation has given it the title of Australia's "Sunshine State". The area has mild winters and warm summers, with average temperatures that range between 10-20°C (50-70F) in winter and 23-30°C (75-86F) in summer. Brisbane is Australia's 3rd largest city and home to 1.6 million people. It offers all the social, cultural and recreational facilities you would expect of a capital city.

Minimum Requirements:
  • GPA: 2.75 Cumulative
  • Must be in good standing (academic, conduct and financial) with UCF
  • Must be registered full time while participating in the exchange
  • Must be a junior or senior at the time of exchange
  • Must have at least one semester left to graduate, upon returning from your semester abroad

Application Process:

You can apply online for this program.  The application includes the submittal of a brief essay (500 words) that clearly describes your academic and personal goals, as well as how this program would further them. We recommend you work on your essay outside the application environment and then paste it on the appropriate field.

In addition, the application process also requires that you submit the following items to Fazal Jameer, Academic Coordinator, RCH 201C:
  • Resume
  • Academic reference from instructor familiar with you (which may be from a supervisor if appropriate) and who can explain why you are a good candidate for this program.
Selected participants must meet with the Program Coordinator to discuss and register for the appropriate coursework. Course work completed through the program may count as 12 semester hours of restricted elective or general elective course work.

All applications will be reviewed by the Rosen College International Committee and selected applicants will be notified of how to follow up. Assessment of the applications will be based on the academic qualifications of the applicant, as well as fit with the courses that the applicant has taken. UCF does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation and/or veteran status.
