The University of Central Florida’s exchange program with the University of Surrey, in Guildford, U.K. offers an opportunity for UCF students with a major or minor in the Department of Mathematics to study their discipline in a non-USA setting. The University of Surrey is an international university with a worldwide reputation for excellence in teaching and research. The University’s Department of Mathematics offers a wide range of undergraduate courses in Mathematics in an environment where teaching and research are well integrated. The University of Surrey was founded in 1894. It was known as Battersea Polytechnic Institute and located in London. In 1966 it was moved to Guildford and renamed the University of Surrey. The structure of the academic programs at the University of Surrey promotes interdisciplinary collaboration. The programs are divided into four Faculties: Arts and Human Sciences, Engineering and Physical Sciences, Health and Medical Sciences and Management and Law, which houses the School of Management. It is currently the academic home of approximately 12,000 students.
Guildford is the county town of Surrey, England, the seat for Guildford Borough, and the administrative headquarters of the South East England region. The town is located about some 50 km (31 miles) southwest of London. Guildford is about 40 minutes by train to the south west of London, and accessible to both Heathrow and Gatwick international airports.

- Must be registered full time while participating in the exchange
- Must be a junior or senior at the time of exchange
- Must have at least one semester left to graduate, upon returning from your semester abroad

You can apply online for this program. The application includes the submittal of a brief essay (500 words) that clearly describes your academic and personal goals, as well as how this program would further them. We recommend you work on your essay outside the application environment and then paste it on the appropriate field.
Selected participants must meet with their Academic Advisor to discuss and register for the appropriate coursework. Coursework completed through the program may count as equivalent UCF course credit and/or as restricted or general elective credit.
All applications will be reviewed by the Department of Mathematics and selected applicants will be notified of how to follow up. Assessment of the applications will be based on the academic qualifications of the applicant, as well as fit with the courses that the applicant has taken.
