Program Description:
The American University of Central Asia( AUCA) is an international, multidisciplinary learning community  based on the American Liberal Arts style education. AUCA is committed to freedom of expression, critical inquiry and academic honesty. AUCA provides a safe environment for its students, faculty, and guests and is considered the most livable city in Central Asia.
AUCA is located in Bishkek Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is in the central northern area of the country. It is the largest city in the country. It is laid out in a straight grid pattern of wide boulevards often bordered by irrigation canals. There are many trees to provide shade during the hot summers. The population is estimated to be about 937,400. Kyrgyzstan, or Kyrgy Republic, is one of the smaller Central Asian states. It is bordered by China to the east southeast, Uzbekistan to the west and south. Kazakhstan is directly to the north. It is a very mountainous country. The Kyrgyz are descendants of Ancient Turkic tribes, nomadic herdsmen. Bishkek offers a wide range of entertainment from museums showcasing traditional cultures and theatre performing local and world famous plays.


Minimum Requirements:

  • UCF GPA: 3.0 
  • Must be a Political Science, International & Global Studies major, or any political science minor.
  • Priority will be given to department majors.
  • Must be in good standing (academic, conduct and financial) with UCF
  • Must be registered full-time while participating in the exchange
  • Successfully completed POS 3703, Scope and Methods of Political Science
  • Must have at least one semester left to graduate, upon returning from your semester abroad
