UCF College of Business Administration has partnered with Yamaguchi University in Japan to allow students to study business in an international setting. Students attend business courses at the Faculty of Global Science Studies. Their academic program is unique in that it focuses on “design science” in order to foster problem solving abilities. Design science is an academic discipline that does not just involve creating models, as it also provides new values and experiences, evaluates them, and practices optimization. In this faculty, students learn various different design techniques that are necessary for problem solving, including collaboration, fieldwork, prototyping, participatory design, and more.
The Faculty offers a variety of business courses taught entirely in English, which are perfect for International Business Minors.
Yamaguchi University is the third oldest national university in Japan. It started off as Yamaguchi Kodo (or lecture hall), a private school that was established in 1815 by Hoyo Ueda, a member of the Choshu Clan. It persisted throughout the educational system of the Meiji and Taisho Periods, before being organized as a university under the new educational system in Japan as a regional center of higher education and academic research through the educational system reforms of 1949.
Yamaguchi Prefecture is located on the western edge of Honshu Island and surrounded on three sides by the ocean. It is blessed with beautiful nature, cities and towns with a long history, a rich culture and a variety of sightseeing spots. Since ancient times, Yamaguchi Prefecture has been a major point of commerce as the gateway to China. Thanks to such a favorable environment, Yamaguchi Prefecture abounds in historical and cultural heritage and is known as the country’s ‘Western Capital,’ playing a major role in the culture, industry and history of Japan.
