Program Information:
When you study on this CISabroad and Johnson & Wales University custom program, you’ll experience and study Italian hospitality operations management in Sorrento, Italy. Located just 20 miles south of Naples, Sorrento is known as the gateway to the Amalfi Coast. Learn the intricacies of managing an international hospitality career through the study of political, cultural, and economic environments on the Italian Coast. Johnson & Wales University is a global leader in hospitality management, and their experiential learning model means you’ll enjoy their highly effective hands-on approach. Frequent excursions and professional visits that emphasize etiquette and protocol provide the opportunity to study what international hospitality is like first hand.

Here are just a few of the program's many highlights to look forward to:
  • Excursions to places like the Roman Colosseum, Pompeii and Naples, and the Island of Capri
  • Academic field trips to places like the Sorrento Tourist Office, a Limoncello Factory, a 5-star hotel, olive oil factory
  • Past demonstrations have included a Baking & Pastry demo and a Pizza-making demo
  • Add on an internship for 3 additional credits
Located atop a seaside cliff, the Sant'Anna Institute is housed in a prominent building offering breathtaking views of the Marina Grande of Sorrento. The grounds offer a tranquil private garden, and the campus building houses classrooms, computer labs, student lounges, a kitchen, and residential rooms on the top floor. From the Institute, you can reach the city center by foot in just fifteen minutes, and the train station is a quick 20-minute walk. When you're not studying, you can join service learning opportunities, language exchange groups, and volunteer projects—as well as exploring the city and relaxing.

Highlights of Local Life:
  • Cooking Class and Dinner: Learn how to make your favorite dishes and eat them too at fattoria Terranova.
  • I Limoneti di Sorrento: Visit at “I Limoneti di Sorrento” and Food Tasting- (Sorrento - Sant’Agnello by train or private transportation) for the cost of 35 EUR per person.
  • Napoli Sotterranea: Visit the underground city of Naples and see the historic places where it all started including a Greek-Roman Aqueduct.
  • Capri: Explore Capri by ferry from Sorrento.
