The purpose of this award is to facilitate programmatic exchange that will promote ties between UCF and the American University of Cairo (Egypt).

Awards are made based on evaluations of written applications and recommendation. Awards will vary depending on  full-semester programs versus short term programs.

To be eligible to apply you must:
  • Have a current free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the Financial Aid office.
  • Be a UCF degree seeking student
  • Be participating on a UCF study abroad program to the American University of Cairo
  • Be enrolled in UCF courses during your semester abroad
  • Must be in good academic and student conduct standing
Please note that the donors for this scholarship may require a meeting, normally lunch or dinner and will require a 'thank you' note once you are notified of your award.

Students must be participants in UCF Abroad Programs. Applications are not considered complete without a letter of reference submitted by the person listed in your application  and a personal statement by the posted deadline.  It is your responsibility to notify the contact providing your recommendation of the deadline for the scholarship to which you applied.

Selection Process and Timeline

After the scholarship application deadline, the following selection process commences;

All applications undergo an initial review by both the UCF Abroad office to ensure that each student meets the eligibility criteria listed above. For those applications that meet the application requirements by submitting all of the required materials  a committee review process starts.

All applications are reviewed by a committee, with membership selected from the UCF Abroad office, UCF Global unit, as well as faculty and staff from other units of UCF.

The committee members rank scholarship applications using a common rubric based on the selection criteria, as well as the quality of student's submitted recommendation and of the student's personal statement.

A list of awardees is then generated based on the committee's rankings and feedback as well as the pool of available funding at that time, which may vary.

Recommendations for final awards are then forwarded to the appropriate units for processing, this could take 3-5 weeks depending on the time of year as well as other factors.

Please contact Daren Caine at daren.caine@ucf.edu if you have scholarship questions.
